Vail Resorts released 2024-25 Epic Pass prices this morning. Other than the asterisked (Vail still needs to close the sale), addition of Crans-Montana in Switzerland (unlimited on Epic, five days on Epic Local), the pass suite and access tiers remain unchanged from previous seasons:

These rates are roughly eight percent higher than last year’s, and mark new record prices for the Epic and Epic Local passes, surpassing the previous highs of the 2020-21 season (after which Vail cut prices by 20 percent).

Vail also brings back its three-tiered Epic Day Pass, which really is a terrific deal:

And here are prices for the military and veterans passes:

And here’s the full roster – Vail quietly added an 11th partner in Japan - White Resort Hakuba Sanosaka:

Passholders still have five days total to use between the 10 Hakuba resorts, and they have to use them consecutively.

Also of note: after turning on Epic Mobile Pass access to its 36 U.S. ski areas this winter, Vail will introduce the feature to Whistler for the 2024-25 ski season.

Vail is also rolling out an online redemption process for Buddy Tickets and Ski With a Friend Tickets, moving the sticker shock of the cost of one day of skiing from the walk-up window to your living room. This is convenient in theory, but probably just gives your crew more time to reconsider their ski day in favor of a less-expensive hobby*, like collecting Ferraris or building a domed city on Mars.

This is the third major national pass release for the 2024-25 ski season. Indy Pass went on sale March 1 at a renewal rate of just $279 and a waitlist price of $329 (the pass will go on sale to the general public for $349 on March 8). Mountain Collective goes on sale today for $605 (renewing passholders should also receive a $30 credit). That just leaves us waiting on Alterra’s Ikon Pass, which traditionally offers substantial renewal discounts, but is also the most expensive of the national passes.

Here's a bit more about the 2024-25 Epic Pass suite, and what it means for skiers and the pass market at large:

*Yes, I just wrote a whole article about how skiing is not actually expensive unless you’re a little bit of a dumbass. But let’s not let that ruin the joke, OK?
