Kirkwood is absolutely insane. As of right now it's still my favorite ski resort in California! It's got the insane terrain of Palisades Tahoe but without the crowds and over-development. It's true that Kirkwood is owned by Vail Resorts, but this place doesn't feel like it whatsoever... Absolutely raw terrain, an older lift fleet, pretty mild base area development, lower crowds compared to a lot of nearby Northern California ski resorts, and if you go on a weekday you'll have the place to yourself! It's a place unlike any other.

My memory is a little foggy on this but I lived in Tahoe in the 1990s. I recall taking the winnings from one good night at the dice table and buying a Kirkwood pass. I think it was $200.

So how come they didn't include you in the list of famous people who were born in Saginaw?

Kirkwood really is a special place. I had to be in San Jose for work just before their closing day. This was just after Vail bought them and I had an Epic pass, so I went. Slushy bumps on The Wall was actually the most fun I've ever had in Tahoe.
