Have skied Chicago/Cooper and loved it. My kind of place. Nice to learn from many of your podcasts that most GMs are avid skiers and often have terrain among highest priorities. Sending thoughts and prayers that the pandemic just ends on its own out there in central Colorado. I guess there's nothing a 100-person employer could do to help move it along faster?

Lake County does indeed own the hill. It was either given or sold to us by the Army.

Even Ski Cooper has grown so much! My dad skied there while in the 10th, I left Vail Ski School to going good friend, Mike Conlin when he became ski school director there in the early 70s. Awesome little area!!

Love that you got a full podcast about Cooper! Love this little place.

I’m hoping for a lift addition to the Chicago Ridge—it’s huge and has wide bowls which is the only terrain Cooper lacks; perfect IMO.

W.r.t. ownership, I don’t know the full details, but I believe either Lake County or the City of Leadville (which is the only city in Lake County) truly “owns” Cooper, but it’s managed/run by a non-profit. This Colorado Sun article goes into it a little bit: https://coloradosun.com/2020/02/17/ski-cooper-new-expert-terrain-open/
