The reasoning behind the Altabird pass price is a bit of middle finger to Salt Lake locals, if it’s the same price buying them separately why even have the pass?

Snowbird is indeed fantastic: terrain, average snowfall and of course The Tram and the continuing saga As The Tram Turns. The terrain is permanently engraved in the meager gray matter separating my ears. Snowbird I love you! But, there is Kicking Horse outside Golden BC with the same snowfall average as Da Bird and a thousand more vertical and a bottom to top Gondi. Two Cirques about twice the dimensions of SB’s and incredible hike to OOB. I love them both- but KH wins the head to head.

Um, hate to break it to you, but Kicking Horse gets barely half the snow that The Bird receives. In addition, the modest KH lift system is massively inefficient, requiring a top to bottom run to lap most of the best terrain. Snowbird lift layout is far superior, with redundancy and ability to ski in lapable pods anywhere on the mountain, under any weather condition. And there is just as much OB terrain to explore at the Bird as there is at KH, and would be even more if Alta wasn't immediately next door. When you consider that you can access Alta on the same pass, it's not even a competition.
