Thx for the great write-up of my local mountain. Hoping that they also extend the season as Shawnee would always close at the end of March regardless of snow conditions. I know one of your upcoming Pods was SP - that still happening ?
Unfortunately, we decided to put that one off until spring, when Boyne has a better handle on where they want to take the place. It’s still coming, but it will be a while yet.
You acknowledged Saddleback as the fourth largest ski area in the state in your email but present them as the 6th largest in your acreage summary. Perhaps something worth clarifying so readers aren't confused about the size of Saddleback.
These smaller resorts like to count the total acres they own as skiable acres. If Saddleback counted their boundary to boundary terrain in their official Skiable Acres they would be way ahead of Black Mtn and Mt. Abram.
Shawnee Peak was the first “big” Mountain I skied when I was just learning the sport. I continue to try to visit, especially on Monday nights, when I’m in the area. It’s a fun little place.
In other less-blockbuster ski acquisition news today, Birch Run Wellness Center has Indianhead/Blackjack under contract. Should be interesting.
Will Shawnee honor sugarloaf platinum pass with an icon
Shawnee is not part of the Ikon or New England passes at this time.

Heck - they'd be way ahead of Whistler-Blackomb by that measure. IIRC, they own ~9,000 acres on a few different sides of the mountain.
Nice job on this, very informative!
