The Best Price on an Annual Storm Subscription Is Almost Over
But I'll give you until noon tomorrow, because why the hell not?
On Feb. 27, 2022, The Storm evolved from hobby to small business, as I announced an inbound paywall. I was nervous as hell when I announced this shift, and nearly as nervous one year later, when those hundreds of early subscriptions came up for renewal.
Storm Nation responded, both times, beyond my expectations. The Storm will end its first annual renewal period with more paid subscribers than it had two weeks ago. That is incredibly encouraging and motivating. Many Substack publications struggle to maintain engagement. Not this one. I think it’s because skiing, so addictive, so consuming, lives as much in the daydream as in the actual act. The Storm, like a perpetual dream, mainlines that sensation all year long.
So much of ski writing falls into two categories: Stoke Brah snowporn, and dumbed-down guilt-tripping mainstream dispatches about skiing’s doomed future in a warming world. The Storm is neither of those things. I am a skier. I get what tugs us into this delerium, why we can sometimes think and talk of nothing else. If that’s you, I’ve got a place for you. Join me:
The Storm’s annual rate will remain at $50 until noon PT tomorrow. You will still be able to subscribe the next day, but the price will never be that low again. Whether you join us on the paid tier or not, thank you for being a part of The Storm.
