Mt. Hood Meadows is an absolutely amazing ski resort! Criminally underrated. What a great podcast, was definitely looking forward to this one.

I'm genuinely curious what the next iteration of the Heather Canyon chairlift could look like. I had no idea they were considering such a large realignment, I had always assumed that when the current Heather Canyon chairlift reached the end of its service life, it would get replaced by another fixed grip chairlift on the exact same alignment. Also crazy how the biggest avalanche flows have threatened the bottom terminal of that lift, considering it already sits in an elevated spot!

I recommend all Storm readers pay a visit to Meadows. Pop by sometime in late March or April when it's sunny, the snow is soft, the breathtaking views are unobstructed, all of the terrain is open (including some of the most varied, interesting and harrowing in-bounds terrain out there!), and crowds are non-existent! Meadows also has a phenomenal terrain park setup too.

Loved your comments about the Enviro-Wacos! I love to ski. I love reading about skiing. But I'm not a leftist environmental (I used to be before I woke up). But seems I can't read an article from Snowbrains or whatever that doesn't cry about "climate change".

Meadows is my home resort. The terrain is very good, infrastructure getting better, and who can control the weather. It needs to expand, but the enviros won't let it. They shut down the White River canyon years back. Would have made a great lap-able pod. Greg was very diplomatic in his answer to you... he didn't throw the Forest Service nor enviros under the bus, though they deserve it.

What wasn't discussed was the C$@% show that Hwy 26 is back to Portland every weekend afternoon. Oregon DOT doesn't expand the road for an additional lane. Every politician should be embarrassed at the mismanagement of public infrastructure... or the lack of. Enviros should be outraged at all the gasoline, or Tesla battery power, being wasted sitting in traffic for hours, pouring fumes into the atmosphere. Human capital and quality of life wasted sitting in traffic. Just like I-70 in CO.

Great post! Following a recent peak rankings video on the precarious state of ski resort insurance in Oregon, I’m surprised this topic does not appear to have been discussed in your interview (I have yet to listen to the full pod). Interested to hear your thoughts
