Teton Pass, Montana could be added to the list of ski areas that missed last season, but opened this year. And the skiing was amazing when I was there earlier this month!

But is Zermatt even a real town, bro? I mean, one of the hotels has a horse drawn coach to bring you from the train station :-) I usually use Saas-Fee, in the next drainage over, as my example of car-free living and skiing (and it's great in summer, too).

The lack of transit in Tahoe is a disgrace. There are train tracks in the middle of downtown Truckee! They go right past Sugar Bowl! But, having tried to use the train to get there from SF: the schedule sucks; half the time the "train" turns into a bus; it doesn't really leave from SF (and isn't well-connected to the rest of Bay Area transit); once you're there, you're pretty much stuck without a car (though that's gotten a little better over the past decade).

It's astonishing to me that the local governments don't band together and demand better from the resorts.
