Mountain Capital Partners (MCP), the rapidly growing outfit that owns seven* ski areas across the Southwest, today launched its 2022-23 Power Pass suite. The price of the headliner Power Pass – good for unlimited access at all MCP ski areas, plus its Spider Mountain Bike Park in Texas – stays flat at $699. The Power Pass Select, which adds restrictions at MCP’s two flagships, Arizona Snowbowl and Purgatory, also stays level, at $599. And the Power Pass Local, which ran $349 last season, is dropping out of the lineup in favor of the $299 Power Pass Core, a slightly different product with fewer blackout dates. Here’s an overview of this year’s offerings:

*MCP also owns tiny Elk Ridge, Arizona, but it has been closed for several years.
* *Blackout dates: Dec. 26 to Jan. 1, 2022; Jan. 14 and 15, 2023; Feb. 18 and 19, 2023

Kids under 12 will again ski free, and those passes now include access to MCP’s four bike parks from the point of purchase until April 30, 2023. Teens and young adults up to age 36 also qualify for a variety of discount tiers. New passholders can begin skiing immediately. A no-interest payment plan is available.

“Our entire family of season passes delivers unmatched value for those who love to ski and play in the Southwest,” said MCP managing partner James Coleman. “Our purpose is to Give People the Freedom to Ski, and there’s no better way to do that than through the Power Pass.”

Coleman, the swaggering headmaster of MCP, has built an almost unassailable fortress in the Southwest, a region where most other multi-mountain passes have little or no presence. The Power Pass is a cool little product, launched four years before the Ikon Pass and well-established as the go-to big-mountain ski pass in an overlooked, high-altitude corner of snow country. Here’s a deeper look at the 2022-23 pass suite:
