Great article.

The linked letter from Erik Mogensen is also fascinating. https://www.blackmt.com/post/letter-from-the-gm-town-settlement-free-skiing-tomorrow

Don't want to oversell it, but dang. A real-live middle of the night showdown with the local police? Federal and State lawsuits filed by Black Mountain? Would love to hear more about that stuff.

I'm really excited to see what Erik does to address insurance and lift costs.

I don’t know what can be done about the lift cost, but the insurance appears to be mainly driven by the litigation risk. I think we need to see more states responding to the Colorado and Oregon decisions on operator liability and shore up that these are activities you engage in at your own risk, and really narrow down what constitutes “gross negligence and recklessness” by the operator. I would like to see insurance force the use of the safety bar, which they do not appear interest in. Instead they are just jacking up the rates.

Same, particularly on the insurance bit. Feel like "the cost of insurance" is so often a damper on otherwise fun recreational activities.

Is this another stupid April Fool's joke? If it is, I will not renew my subscription.

Lol.. Is your comment an April Fool's joke? Everything about this is real bud, you can click the links (in the article) and read it on Black Mountains website.
